Fletcher Hanks

Fletcher hanks was an insanely prolific cartoonist from the ‘golden age of comics’. He only worked in the business from 1939-1941. His stories are so much fun but definitely fall into the category ‘so bad they’re good’ . They remind me of early Batman with what seem now like hackneyed phrases, cliches and settings. The colour separations are delightfully idiosyncratic.
Hanks was by all accounts a bit of a mean drunk and was eventually found dead on a park bench, his artwork now has a cult following.
